Touche Eclat and Faux Cils

This set is currently selling on Sephora, and since I’ve always wanted to try out the infamous Touche Eclat, I decided to pick it up. It comes with Touche Eclat in the shade 2 (which is kind of a bummer, I wish you could choose the color so everyone could get use out the set, ladies with darker skin tones might not be able to swing shade 2) and a black Volume Effet Faux Cils Shocking mascara.

The set sells for $40, which is how much the Touche Eclat is alone, but in this set you get a deluxe Faux Cils Shocking mascara too. The Touche Eclat is a click pen style product, which I found really easy to use. The mascara’s wand had bristles pretty far apart, and was average sized (made for the goldilocks among us).

I used Touche Eclat as an all over liquid highlighter. I found the product really easy to blend, and the resulting effect was very subtle, which I actually like. I have quite oily skin, so anything too dewy kind of freaks me out. I don’t have bad under eye circles, so this was more than capable of covering them. I put some all the way in the inner corners of my eyes, since that is where I get dark, and blended down and out. Then under my brows, which is somewhere I really love to put Touche Eclat, since it lifts the brows really nicely. On to the top of my cheeks, for a light face lift. I also put some in my smile lines, to make those kind of “come out” of my face more. It diminished the natural shadow created there by my big smile and didn’t crease up either. Then I put some on the top of my cupids bow to make my lips looks a bit fuller (those babies need all the help they can get).

I found it really brightened up the center of my face (which is a great look). I decided to swatch it next to one of my favorite under eye concealers, the Mayeblline Under Eye Dark Circle Eraser (mines in fair).

Touche Eclat is much more yellow than the Maybelline, which is more pink/salmon colored. The Maybelline will be better at combating blue/purple under eye circles, but Touche Eclat is more useful for all over the face. You can get Touche Eclat in pinker shades individually, but I like that the one I got is closer to my skin tone. I think this product has more merit as an all-over face product instead of just an under eye concealer.

I really like the mascara, I found it to be volumizing, but not clumpy. It has a strong perfumed smell, which I noticed right when I opened it, so if you have trouble with strong smells, it might be too much for you. I don’t smell it on my lashes (that would be so weird), so its just when your nose is near the tube. Its a fairly wet formula, but I’m sure it’ll dry out some with use. It was very easy to use, and built up to the volume I like quickly, I only used one coat in the picture above, and in life in general.

You can get this set at Sephora for $40.

The rundown: A,  but only for those with fair skin and a large makeup budget

  1. I find that that mascara smears *everywhere* on me; even when I only do my top lashes I end up a panda. I didn’t even use up the sample I got!
I like Touche Eclat, but I like the Guerlain Perfect Light pen better.

    1. I haven’t seen any smudging, and I hope I don’t in the future (pandas are so cute, just not panda eyes). I’m going to have to try the Guerlain version, these pen highlighters are fun. Thank you for the recommendation!

  2. Hey Natalie, you look pretty good to begin with to be honest! But I can see the brightening Touche Eclat offers! That mascara is amazing! I have a couple of friends who swear by it, but I haven’t tried yet 🙂
