When Hourglass came out with the Ambient Lighting Powders, the world of makeup lovers stood up, took notice, and then took a few different colors home with them. Each powder is meant to produce a different lighting effect. This palette houses three different powders, in case you are like me and couldn’t pick just one when these first came out.

Two of the powders are permanent, Radiant Light and Dim Light. Radiant Light is meant to add a glow to the skin, and can be applied all over to extend a tan or just over the cheeks for a sun-kissed glow. Dim Light is meant to simulate dim lighting (such a clever name). This powder is meant to blur imperfections, and can be worn all over the face. Incandescent Light is limited edition for this palette, and is the most shimmery. I would use this as a highlighter on the face, on the tops of the cheekbones, under eyebrow arches, cupids bow and inner corner of the eyes.

I really like this palette, I find that these powders set makeup very nicely and don’t look or feel heavy on the skin. These almost melt in to the skin, and like the other finishing powders in this series, you can’t even feel these on the face.

I like the idea of the different effects, but it is frustrating since you end up wanting all the different kinds they carry permanently (at least I do). This set is fun, since you get to try three colors, and if you like them, can choose to pick up one (or more) from the permanent line. The three colors together are just about the same amount of product (9.9 oz) as one (10 oz) of the individual powders. The set also comes with a mini (0.16 oz) of their amazing Veil Mineral Primer (its a favorite of my mom and I’s).

You can get this palette at Sephora for $58.

  1. I love this so much, I have been using it every day since i got it a week ago! It gives such a blurry glowy perfection that I can wear it over just moisturiser and concealer without any base product, and not notice my usual flaws!!! I wouldn’t have imagined that a powder without coverage could do this…I hope they come out with more palettes with the other shades, hint hint!

  2. Hey Natalie, I’m glad to hear you like this one! I have Radiant Light and I absolutely love it (for this trip I took this as a finishing powder/highlighter)! I wanted this palette too, and I would have grabbed it if I didn’t have Radiant Light already. As it is I already have many setting powders that I love!

    1. These are awesome! I’m sure I’ll pick up an individual pan in the near future. Packing Radiant Light was a great call, I love multipurpose products when I travel.
